Our limits

What We Do Not Take On

We work on residential garage doors: springs, openers, tracks, cables, rollers, and panel replacement. We do not do new home construction installs as part of a builder's framing crew, and we do not touch commercial rolling steel doors or fire-rated doors.

Commercial bay door systems

If your door is tied into a larger commercial bay system, that's a different trade with different code requirements, and we'll tell you so instead of taking the job anyway. We also don't pretend every broken door is a quick fix. A lot of the housing stock in this area went up between 1971 and 2004, with most of it built in the 1980s and 90s.

Worn track and drum limits

That means a good share of the doors we see are original to the house or close to it. When a torsion spring breaks on a door from that era, sometimes the track and drum are worn enough that patching one part just means a second call in six months.

Obsolete opener and panel parts

We'll say that up front rather than sell a spring job on a door that needs more. Parts availability is the other honest limit. Some older opener models and odd-width panel sizes aren't something we keep on the truck, and ordering them can take time. We'd rather tell you that before we start than leave a door half-apart.

Our team

Who You Are Dealing With

Joplin Garage Door Pros is based at 1801 W 32nd St, Joplin, MO 64804. We work on houses, not fleets or franchises, and most of the calls we take are from owner-occupied homes rather than rental turnovers or new builds.

Repair before replacement options

Across the service area there are roughly 24,336 households and about 13,385 owner-occupied houses, and the median household income sits around $58,330 - which shapes how we quote a job. We try to give options: a repair when the door has life left in it, a straight answer when replacement is the cheaper path over time.

Cold climate spring stress

The climate here matters too. We're in a cold-moderate band, which means winter cold snaps put extra load on springs and openers that are already tight from age, and that's when a lot of the calls come in.

No upsold weatherproofing packages

We don't oversell weatherproofing packages that don't fit this climate zone, and we don't push a full door swap when a cable or roller replacement solves the actual problem. Call 14172016345 if you want a straight read on what's wrong before anyone commits to a repair.

Where We Work

Our base is in Joplin, and most of our calls come from the close-in areas: Duquesne, about 2 miles out, and Leawood, about 3 miles. We also get regular calls from Airport Drive, Webb City, and Duenweg, all around 5 miles out, and from Carterville at 6 miles and Carl Junction at 7.

Farther out, we cover Loma Linda and Oronogo at about 8 miles each, and we'll take calls as far as Carthage (11 miles), Diamond (12 miles), and out to Neosho, Granby, and Seneca, each around 17 miles. The housing in these outlying towns runs the same general age range as Joplin proper - mostly 1980s and 90s builds across the fourteen named areas we cover - so the failure patterns we see (worn torsion springs, original openers nearing the end of their life) tend to look similar whether the call comes from inside city limits or from one of the farther towns.

If you're not sure whether your address falls in range, call 14172016345 and ask before you book anything.

Questions

Common questions

Do you work on doors in Webb City or just Joplin?

We cover Joplin and the surrounding towns out to about 17 miles, which includes Webb City, Duenweg, Carl Junction, Carterville, and a handful of others. If you're close to that outer edge, call first and we'll confirm before scheduling.

My house was built in the 1980s - is that a problem for parts?

Not usually. Most of the housing stock in this area dates from 1971 to 2004 with a concentration in the 1980s and 90s, so we see that era of door and opener constantly. The harder cases are odd or discontinued models, which we'll flag before starting work.

Do you install new garage doors or just repair them?

We do both repair and replacement on residential garage doors. We don't do builder-side installs on new construction or commercial bay doors - those are outside what we take on.

Why does my spring keep breaking in winter?

We're in a cold-moderate climate band, and cold temperatures add load to springs that are already worn from age cycles. On an older door that's original to a 1980s or 90s build, a cold snap is often what finally snaps a spring that was already near the end of its life.
